FoodCloud was established in 2012 to tackle the issues of food poverty and food waste. Globally, 30% of all food produced is wasted, while 108 million people are malnourished. In an Irish context, we waste 1 million tonnes of food every year, while 1 in 8 people suffer from food poverty. FoodCloud helps tackle both of these issues through our two innovative solutions, our hubs and retail. The retail solution connects over 500 supermarkets with surplus or excess food directly to local community groups, while our hubs in Dublin, Cork and Galway distribute larger volumes of surplus food directly to our community and charity partners. We are always looking for new volunteers and partners to support our dedicated teams, in Dublin, Cork and Galway.
Every Euro donated allows FoodCloud to redistribute over 4kgs of food to our charity and community group partners, which is the equivalent of 11 nutritious meals.
