Did you know that 2.8 million tonnes of food are thrown away every year and at the same time 8.7% of the Swiss population is affected by poverty?
With refrigerated vehicles, Schweizer Tafel collects perfect, surplus food from retailers every day and distributes it free of charge to 500 social institutions, such as homeless shelters, street kitchens, emergency shelters or women's shelters. In this way, it builds a bridge from abundance to scarcity and helps people in need in Switzerland.
Schweizer Tafel is a purely donation-financed organisation. It must therefore seek the necessary funds each year to continue its activities.
