UNHCR Hurricane Melissa Appeal

, United Kingdom for UNHCR

Hurricane Melissa has struck the Caribbean with catastrophic force - destroying homes, flooding communities, and displacing millions. In Jamaica, it is estimated that up to 1.5 million people could be affected across the country.
Families across the region are sheltering in emergency centres, having fled with nothing.

UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency is sending emergency relief items - blankets, solar lamps, mosquito nets, tents, and kitchen sets - to those in urgent need. We’ve already supported authorities in the Dominican Republic and stand ready to provide support in other countries in the region. But our emergency stockpiles are running low.

We are working to ensure that this support reaches the most vulnerable communities - but we need your support to reach even more people in need. We are emptying our supplies of emergency items in our warehouse in Panama - please help us restock and deliver life-saving aid to more displaced families across the region.

Your support during times of emergency could help provide comfort, protection, and shelter. For people who have fled with nothing, core relief items such as blankets, clothing, kitchen sets and sleeping mats make all the difference. Shelter will help protect from harsh weather and unsafe conditions, offering safety, warmth, and dignity during these vulnerable moments.

Thank you for standing with people caught in the in the destruction of this terrible storm.
