UNHCR Emergency Appeal for Pakistan Floods

by United Kingdom for UNHCR

Following the monsoon floods in August 2022, one third of Pakistan is underwater. 30 million people across the country are affected, and 6.4 million people need immediate support.

This has led the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, Filippo Grandi, to urgently call for “global support and solidarity for Pakistan in these dire times”.

UNHCR has been standing with the people of Pakistan and Afghan refugees hosted in the country for over four decades, and is already distributing lifesaving support to affected communities, including many of the 1.3 million Afghan refugees who have generously been hosted in Pakistan.

This support includes emergency relief such as tents, plastic tarpaulins, blankets, solar lamps, sleeping mats, sanitary products and cooking stoves

As the catastrophe unfolds, and with many areas inaccessible, more aid will be needed for UNHCR to scale up our response to reach those with essentials such as food, education, shelter and protection.

Please donate today to give lifesaving support.

• £18 could help provide a vulnerable family a solar lamp, allowing them to access affordable and sustainable energy in areas where electricity may be inaccessible

• £21 could provide blankets to a family that is in desperate need after being devastated by the flood

• £327 could provide a tent, to give shelter and protection from the elements
